Abu Dhabi After Hours: The Best Places to Unwind and Enjoy the Nightlife

Abu Dhabi After Hours: The Best Places to Unwind and Enjoy the Nightlife

Cocktail Chronicles: Abu Dhabi's Most Creative Mixology

When your day in Abu Dhabi has come to an end and you're ready for a favorite pastime, unwinding, one would argue that a well-mixed cocktail is just the right elixir. Abu Dhabi's mixology promises an art of its own. Fancy a sip of something that has the tastes of the Emirates, with a dash of global cocktail culture? Then the Ray's Bar, on the 62nd floor of Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, would be your goto spot. Here, mixologists are always experimenting with vibrant and innovative ideas. These artisans concoct a playful list of cocktails, fiddling around with sweet and savory trends and exotic ingredients. And the view, oh the view! It's the place where the city's skyline meets the cocktail rim. Think of it as an alcohol-infused spaceship with a view.

Soaking up Jazz: Abu Dhabi's Melodious Evenings

Perhaps a touch of jazz to elevate your late-night soirees? One of my personal favorites, Jazz and Fizz Bar at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche, is undoubtedly a city gem. Nestled on the 36th floor of the hotel, at Jazz bar, you can sip upon a delightful range of cocktails, while soaking up live jazz tunes that sweep you into a world of relaxation. The ambience, a beautiful blend of sophistication and comfort, adds a distinct charm to this bar. The icing on the cake is the magnificent view overlooking the arched Presidential Palace, illuminated against the night sky.

Majlis Style: Experience a Traditional Arabian Night

If you wish to delve deeper into the local culture, I suggest stepping into the Al Samar Lounge at the Emirates Palace Hotel. Immerse yourself in luxurious interiors that embellish the grandeur of Arabic tradition. Arabic coffee, dates, and dainty sweetmeats are order of the day here. It's a grandeur, majestic, and a bit intimidating—Alistair has to admit—but you inevitably find yourself swaying to the rhythm of local background music.

Tapas & Chill: The Spanish Food Fiesta

Just because you're in Abu Dhabi, doesn't mean you can't take a mini culinary trip to Spain. For a casual, laid-back night, try Bravo Tapas Bar and Restaurant at the Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel and Resort. This place is all about good food, good drinks, and good vibes. The Tapas are a highlight, offering a flavorful bite-sized journey through Spanish cuisine. Bonus point for sangrias that are just right and make you think you're soaking up the Mediterranean sun. This is the place where I discovered my love for Churros with chocolate, decadent but worth every calorie.

In High Heels: Abu Dhabi's Nightclubs

Does the night seem young after a round of tapas? Time for a little sparkle and dance! Head to MAD on Yas Island—the UAE's biggest indoor nightclub. Here is where the party animals unleash. Known for hosting some of the best international DJ sets and live performances, this place guarantees a time filled with music, high-energy dance, and pulsating vibes. But be warned, don't make my mistake. Wearing comfortable shoes is not a suggestion, it's a survival tip!

Private Islands: The Night's Retreat

Interestingly, nightlife in Abu Dhabi is not just about bars and clubs. You can choose from a plethora of unique experiences. A night at Nurai Island could be your escape from the city’s hustle. Nurai is a private island resort where the beauty of nature flirts with luxurious comfort. Here's a tip: nothing can beat the joy of an open-air cinema under the desert stars.

Dine like a King: Exquisite Dining with Ambient Charm

If food is your thing, don't miss the extravagant dining options that the city offers. An extraordinary culinary journey awaits you at ‘Byblos sur Mer’ in Intercontinental Abu Dhabi. This place is almost sinful, allowing you to indulge in the best of Lebanese cuisine while soaking up the spectacular marina view. Alistair personally recommends the Mutabal and Batata Harra here! Boy, aren’t they addictive!

Cultural Quench: Saadiyat Cultural District

Last but not least, if you have an eye for art and a taste for culture, visit Manarat Al Saadiyat in Saadiyat Cultural District. The exhibitions are diverse and thought-provoking, sparking curiosity and tackling global issues, offering a perfect food for thought. Often, these exhibits are open until late in the evening, making them an excellent choice for after-hours exploration. But do remember, no food or drinks are allowed inside.

Nightlife in Abu Dhabi is a symphony of global influences and traditional Arabian charm. It's a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in an array of vibrant experiences, be it fine dining, pub hopping, or indulging in some cultural delight. So, come, embrace the city under the stars, and be a part of the grand Emirati after-dark saga.
